The best thing about the burgers at Black Hills Burger and Bun Co is that the meat is ground and shaped on the spot every day. Along with the fact that they bake their own buns, this is as fresh as a burger can taste.
2. Duke’s Burger – Washington D.C.
Duke’s Burger is almost always on lists of the best burgers in the country and for good reason. The gastropub is modeled after East London and serves great burgers. The “Proper Burger,” which has a trademarked name, is the most famous. It has gouda, pickles, charred onions, sweet chili sauce, arugula, and garlic aioli all in a brioche bun. Guaranteed to make your day better.
3. Burger Warfare – Greensboro, North Carolina
This place has promised to take over the burger movement. It has tasty double-decker, chicken stacker, and veggie stacker burgers. The diner also has a menu for people who can’t eat gluten. Expect burgers that are bursting with taste and will make you a fan for life.
4. Paradise Valley Burger Company — Phoenix, Arizona
Because of its big, strong burger flavors, Paradise Valley Burger Company has been on a lot of TV shows. It’s the home of the “Brulee Burger,” which has surprising combinations like 1000 Island on a burnt sugar bun, and the “Country Fried Burger,” which is made with a jalapeno and thyme sauce. 5. Ariete – Miami, Florida
This Miami institution has a lot to love. Decor that looks good on Instagram, great service, and high-end food like foie gras. But those burgers are all we can think about. The Italian company that started the Built for Instagram brand opened its first store in West Hollywood at the end of 2021, and it’s already a big hit. The team makes tasty vegan patties with things like mushrooms, red beans, chickpeas, and seitan. The patties are served in rainbow-colored buns on either end.
7. Earnestine & Hazel’s – Memphis, Tennessee
The “Greatest Burger Dive Bar” in America and its famous “Soul Burger” don’t really need to be introduced, but we’ll do it anyway. They put a juicy burger, onions, cheese, pickles, and “soul sauce” into a beautiful bun. You eat it, and then you try to order another one as quickly as you can. There are ghosts, interesting stories, and good drinks.
8. Hop + Grind – Durham, New Hampshire
These guys don’t own restaurants, they have food adventures. They push the boundaries of fast food, and their burger is one of the best in New Hampshire. You should try their Bomb Diggity burger if you like to try new tastes. It’s a beef burger mixed with American and cheddar cheese. Salami and mushrooms are on top.
9. Smashed – New York
In 2023, smash burgers were the most popular food in NYC, and a year later, it’s clear that they’re not going anywhere. Smashed is a new burger place on the Lower East Side that opened last year. They make these smash burgers to order. You can choose a single, double, or triple patty, as well as whether it’s made of beef or not. The Classic has American cheese, onions that have been grilled, pickles, and, of course, that special Smash Sauce.
10. Maple and Motor – Dallas, Texas
At Maple and Motor, there are only two kinds of burgers to choose from, but it’s hard to go wrong with either. South Omaha has always had Louie M’s. There are also at least 12 different choices, one for each month. If it looks familiar, you might have seen it in the 1995 Shannen Doherty and Ed Asner movie, Gone in the Night.
12. Harry’s Bar & Burger – Providence, Rhode Island
These burgers are made from 100% Hereford meat and come in pairs. Each burger is pressed with onions and served on a toasted Martin’s potato roll. The classic cheese and hickory-smoked bacon burger is not to be missed. People also love the crunchy onion strips.
13. JewBoy Burgers – Austin, Texas
At JewBoy Burgers, the culture of the US-Mexico border meets a Reform Jewish education. Burritos, latkes, and a lot of other cooked foods are available, but the burgers are the best. Try the namesake bun, which is made with 1/3 lb of freshly ground beef smashed on top of onions that have been cooked on a very hot flat-top grill. They flip it twice, put cheese on top, and then steam it until the cheese melts.

Lucky, lucky Emporia. This unassuming burger spot serves up some of the most succulent, well-seasoned burgers in the state, served with shaved onions, crispy lettuce, and a tomato. You should also get the onion rings. If you think your taste buds can handle it, you can try the “Carolina Reaper Burger Challenge,” which is made with the hottest pepper in the world.
16. The Cherry Cricket – Denver, Colorado
Since 1945, Cherry Cricket has served burgers, beers, and good times. Even though it returned in 2017 after a fire, not much has changed inside everyone’s favorite burger place, not even the tasty burgers. There’s a juicy 1/2-pound beef burger, a 1/3-pound bison burger, and a “impossible vegetarian burger” that’s getting more and more famous. These burgers can be topped with sauces like peanut butter and bacon jalapeno.
17. Au Cheval – Chicago, Illinois
This upscale American diner regularly ranks as one of the best burgers in the United States. Why? Think of huge burgers covered in cheese, topped with crispy bacon, a fried egg, and maybe even a hash brown. We’ll say no more.
